Anxiety Natural Recovery / Driving Anxiety

I'm a pretty good driver until I get on major highways. I tense up and can't wait til my turnoff. The funny thing is I'm good on regular roads. Can I do a session where you can explain how to do this and to help me figure this out? It's the last bit of anxiety but it's keeping me from being 100%.

Anxiety Natural Recovery / Awesome Anxiety Program
« Last post by Pat on July 01, 2013, 07:55:24 PM »
I never went on vacation until this summer. I thought it would be hard but it was easier than I thought. I go everywhere now and don't even think about it because it's all learned in my head. Once I did what the program said to do (so easy) I never had to think about it anymore. I feel so free again and definitely independent. Can't believe this is really me! This is very new to me and I love it. Thanks for this opportunity to live a good life again. I hope everyone can do this too.

Anxiety Natural Recovery / I'm hyper focused on one thing...

Hi.  I've never posted here before and think I may have posted incorrectly earlier today.  Sorry for the duplication.  I ordered your program a while back and fully recovered for several years.  Thank you!!  About 4 months ago while under tremendous stress I started experiencing some DP again.  Having gone through your program I was able to cope with it and just when I thought I had a handle on it a new very intrusive thought began a vicious cycle of chronic panic and severe DP.  I feel so stupid even writing this but I am at my wit's end.  I notice the color red everywhere.  All day long!  Albeit when I'm driving I notice all the red cars, when I shop I notice everyone's red clothing, I can barely watch tv because all I notice is the red colors etc.  It's to the point I cannot eat or sleep over this.  I try telling myself this is only a "symptom" but it's literally interferring with my life, work and relationships. Is this normal anxiety?  I get those doubts and I don't want to go down that road...  Any clarificaton or suggestions to break this cycle would be appreciated.  I miss my life...  Thank you!

I ordered your program a while back and am so pleased to say I fully revovered and have been anxiety free for a few years.  Thank you!!  About 4 months ago while under tremendous stress I started to experience some DP again.  I had your tools and wisdom so I fought through it until about 2 months ago a new and very scary symptom occured that actually consumes my day to the point I cannot eat or sleep.  I have become very focused on noticing the color red everywhere.  I actually feel so stupid saying this!  Intellectually I know it's a "symptom" but it's very disturbing.  Albeit when I am driving I notice all the red cars, when I'm shopping I notice everyone wearing red, when I watch tv I notice anything red on the screen, when I try to sleep I dream about out etc. Anything clarification or suggestions as to how to break this cycle would be appreciated.  One starts to doubt themselves and their sanity when in a vicious cycle like this. I miss my life...

Anxiety Natural Recovery / Re: Traveling Impossible
« Last post by DrFreedman on June 26, 2013, 06:35:51 PM »
Dear Eli,

What you are experiencing is based upon a mindset that has become your behavior. This cycle needs to be broken in order for you to move forward. You have told yourself, so many times, that you are only safe within a certain parameter and now your mind takes this as fact.

It is time to tap into your "adult voice" and break this cycle of behavior. It's time to UNLEARN this habit of fear and do it as soon as possible. This will enable you to travel anywhere you wish. You will take the correct tools along with you wherever you travel.

You have to learn to go through your fears correctly in order to come out on the other side. This is not difficult and can be learned very quickly. Please give my office a call when you are ready and give yourself the opportunity to break this cycle and begin enjoying your life again.

Best wishes,

Dr. Ronnie Freedman

Anxiety Natural Recovery / Traveling Impossible
« Last post by Eli on June 26, 2013, 12:57:25 PM »
Hi Dr. Freedman,

When I think about traveling I honestly believe it is something I'll never be able to do. I used to go everywhere even on planes. Now it's like I have a border of about 5 miles (if that) to travel in comfortably. When I go past that zone I feel like I'm falling apart with anxiety. Everything gets blurry and looks differently, unreal. My heart pounds and I want to only turn around and go home. When I get near home I feel better until the next time I try to go somewhere else.

Do you think even someone like me can do this one day? Is your program good for traveling too?

Thank you.

Eli

Anxiety Natural Recovery / Re: Driving in Heat
« Last post by Katie on June 26, 2013, 10:11:59 AM »
I have always felt worse in the hot weather. I have to make sure I have cold water with me and I don't go too far when it's hot out. I have heard others say this too. I always feel less anxiety in the winter. I'd also like to ask Dr. Freedman if there is a way we can feel better in the summer so I won't dread this season.

Dear Dr. Freedman,

I don't know if I can ever drive this summer. I've had two bad times when I was driving on very hot days. I even have air conditioning in my car but until it cools down I feel high anxiety. I don't want to be afraid of driving but nothing I do makes me feel better in the heat. Will the program get me over this or can you tell me something? :'( I am ordering because I have other anxieties too. If you could explain this hot weather feeling it would help me.

I appreciate it.

Anxiety Natural Recovery / Re: Social Anxiety
« Last post by DrFreedman on June 24, 2013, 02:10:13 PM »
Dear Sandy,

The reason you feel better when you go places alone is because you tell yourself you are "safe" and your body is reacting to the message it is receiving. You are on guard when with others for fear of embarrassing yourself. We are what we tell ourselves we are all day long. This is why one always feels relief when coming home or jumping into their car after a fearful episode outside the home.

It's not about avoiding others but learning to turn off the danger response that is automatically occurring. Once you learn how to do this you will feel fine wherever you are or whatever you are doing. It gives one a true sense of power to be able to achieve this and it's not difficult at all. Feeling in control of your body's reactions enables you to be with friends, family and others without the intrusion of anxiety symptoms.

You certainly can overcome this whenever you are ready to learn a few simple and effective coping skills.

Call my office for further information and I'll be glad to speak with you.

Best wishes,

Dr. Ronnie Freedman
