Hints and Tips
Enjoy!
Rediscover
the wonderful enjoyment of just "letting go" and having
fun.
Do something just because you've never done it before or because
it's been a long time since you allowed yourself to do it. Forget
what others may think, of being judged, or holding back. As long
as you are not hurting anyone then no one will probably notice
anyway. Sometimes we need a break from too much introspection
and the best relief is letting go with some plain old fashioned
good times.Take a chance and you may wind up with a smile on your
face too!
Think
It Over!
Think
about how different you feel when you leave a place you feel is
causing your panic attacks or anxiety symptoms. Think about how
different you feel once you're outside the store or back inside
your house. Notice how the levels of anxiety diminish in a relatively
short period of time...almost immediately in some cases. Also
think about what you are saying to yourself. You are telling
yourself you're safe and your body is reacting to that thought.
Start noticing today how you speak to yourself in similar situations
and watch how your body responds. The power of thought is incredibly strong!
Take
A Walk!
Something
as simple as walking can make a huge difference in the way you
feel. A brisk walk can not only be a wonderful form of exercise
but also a huge mood lifter. If the sun is shining it can only
add to the elevation of your spirits, since sunshine exposure
is a known natural mood lifter....And again, remember, "moving
through anxiety" by walking is the best way to use up that
excess adrenaline caused by anxiety and stress... the adrenaline
that causes so many of those symptoms! In just 3-5 minutes
even minor walking will help your body re-absorb that adrenaline
and you'll be feeling more like yourself. Yes, in that short period
of time you can be feeling a difference. So get up and walk, and
feel the wonderful results that minor movement such as walking
can do for you. It can even prevent the buildup
of stress and anxiety which will in turn prevent future panics!
STEP
ASIDE!
Just as a cut will heal if you leave it alone, the same will happen
with anxiety symptoms and your nerves. If you step aside and stop
exacerbating the symptoms with "what if" thoughts
your body will have a chance to heal. Less adrenaline pumping
means less stress to your nerves and more time to heal. Give up
those "what if" thoughts and step aside
for your own healing to begin!!!
LOOSEN
UP!
The next time you're sitting around watching television or standing
and talking to someone, or even driving your car, notice how you
are sitting or standing. Are your muscles tightened, fists clenched,
jaw tight? If so, then take a moment to loosen up and feel the
immediate difference. Lower those shoulders and let go of the
body tension as you take the stress away. Give your body an advantage
by releasing the tension as you think just one word: "LOOSEN".
It can make a world of difference as the tension melts away!
FOODS
EFFECT MOODS!
When
that four o'clock slump occurs in late afternoon try a protein snack such as
nuts, cheese, peanut butter or turkey
on whole grain crackers and you will regain your sense of well-being.
